April is here and so are new ducks. This month our flying friends are inspired by DuckTales. Check out the kid’s area at the library today or play along at home by downloading the files below.
In March our Pokémon popup was a real hit. I’m hoping for more to come in the near future. I tested the Pokéball Plus accessory and found that the device is very powerful for Pokémon Go Trainers. I leveled up over 20 levels this week, and I’m quite impressed with how the neat little ball enhances the gameplay of the mobile game. We’re lucky enough to be part of a mall that is full of Pokéstops and Gyms, several of which can be accessed right here from the library. Hit me up if you want to be friends in Pokémon Go, I’m not horribly active on this title, but it has been an inspiring way to engage with other trainers on their day-to-day adventures at the library.
Bugopolis has been in total swing and continues through the end of this month. We now have 4 segmented caterpillars decorated with stylish shoes prepared by our library patrons. One of our collogues allowed us to share some bugs from their own collection too. Summer Reading is right around the corner, so check out Bugopolis before it’s gone.
This month I’m recommending the 2023 drama “BlackBerry.” This film surprised me. I’ve enjoyed the performances of Jay Baruchel and Glenn Howerton for years. You might recognize Baruchel from early 2000s comedies like TV cult classic “Undeclared” and “Knocked Up” or for his voice acting as Hiccup from the animated How To Train Your Dragon films. Glenn Howerton has been a staple of the “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” cast since 2005. They both knocked this one out of the park and I don’t know anyone who can do RAGE quite like Glenn. There is a line of dialogue towards the end of the film that will live in my head now, forever. I streamed this one through Kanopy, check it out there or see if your local library has a copy available. The BlackBerry phone was a pretty nifty device that changed how folks used mobile data, and it really was the coolest thing around… until the iPhone changed everything and now 20 years later, we’re all rocking these doom rectangles, wild.
