Today marks the start of our spring Interaction Lab. Our theme this time is Bugopolis, visit our bug city, vibe in the space, and learn something new together. Beyond our lab you may search for the latest #LibraryDucks throughout the kid’s section. This month we welcome 4 new School Age Mutant Hero Duckies!
These four new duckies are inspired by the crime fighting turtles, each named for the great artists of the renaissance. Explore the library and follow the links on the artist’s pages to learn more.
Play the scavenger hunt and claim your lucky ducky prize bookmark. If you can’t make it this time, below are the files to play along at home.
Did you know many libraries have 3d printers? That’s how all these ducks came to be! Check out how to submit your very own 3D .stl file for printing at Arapahoe libraries here…

This month I’m recommending the Pixar classic, A Bug’s Life.
In 1998, A Bugs Life had big shoes to fill following Pixar’s first feature film, Toy Story. In this film we see Flick called to adventure, leaving his home to find tough bugs that will help save the ant colony from the greedy grasshoppers who abuse the ants and take most of their food. It’s a story about class, collectivism, and also cute bugs. I grew up with this movie and probably wore out the VHS watching it frequently with my family. The VHS had one of those chonky white, plastic cases that Disney used for their home video releases way back when, and you could even buy a copy with your favorite character on the box. It was great marketing to get people to collect each cover, my family chose a copy with the ant Flick, my cousins had one with the feisty Ladybug, Francis. A Bugs Life had a tie in video game for both consoles and handhelds with unique versions for each. I spent countless hours playing both the Gameboy Color and PS1 versions of this story. Pro gamer tip: Wanna skip to level 2 in the handheld game, I’ll never forget the password. 9LKK. Whatever version you played, you’d find classic 2d or 3d platforming action and probably are familiar with throwing berries at bigger bugs. Classic. =]
